It comes to be that time of year where we all stop to take a moment and be truly thankful, whether that's for our family, friends, job, and even our little (or not so little!) pets. Here at Crookston and Prairie Pet Clinic we'd like to say a special thank you to all of our clients, past, current, and in the future. We are blessed to have wonderful clients and amazing pets to work with on a daily basis. We look forward to continuing to build upon old and establish new relationships over the next year. Here are a few individual things we are thankful for as well: "Thankful for the many blessings I have received during the year." - Woody "My renewed contact with previous friends and being able to text when support for them is needed." - Carol "The health and support of my family and friends." - Lisa "To be able to work in a field that I enjoy with people I love like family." - Allison "To wake up every morning and be surrounded by loved ones and go to a job that I truly enjoy." - Kaytlin "Pets and pet owners that feel like family; love and devotion from pets." - Dr. Leah From all of us at Crookston and Prairie Pet Clinic, have a wonderful Thanksgiving and please, be safe.

As we hunker down today against those nasty bellowing winds, it's important for you to know: the ticks are all but gone. As hardy as we are up here in Northwestern Minnesota, the ticks do their best to match our pace. Any time it is 30 degrees or warmer, the deer ticks are out and about, looking for their next snack. Even if there is a pile of snow in the yard, if it creeps above that temperature point, your canine and feline friends are at risk for picking up a hitchhiker.
Pet owners can now quickly and easily report a diabetic dog or cat’s blood glucose readings to their veterinarian using the PetDialog diabetes management app from Zoetis. The smartphone app features a timeline that displays a pet’s daily activities such as walks, meals, treats and administered medications. It also serves as way to record a pet’s blood glucose levels obtained through the AlphaTRAK Blood Glucose Monitoring System. When pet owners register their AlphaTRAK 2 meter, they will be able to record and email the pet’s blood glucose and insulin readings to their veterinarian for review. The veterinarian downloads the data and works directly with the pet owner to manage insulin therapy. The PetDialog app is available through iTunes and Google Play. For fastest response visit alphatrakmeter.com If you need to pick up an AlphaTRAK meter or would like to rent one, we have them at our Crookston Pet Clinic location, simply call to inquire!
